Artist Biography: Printmaker and painter Linda Plotkin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 21, 1938. She received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and her M.F.A. from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.Plotkin has worked in all the intaglio processes as well as lithography, monotype, serigraphy, and woodcut. Additionally, she has worked in oil painting, watercolor, and has published original artworks in several books, individually and collaboratively. She is a member of and has exhibited with the Lower East Side Printshop, the Society of American Graphic Artists and the Boston Printmakers. Her online resume lists sixteen solo exhibitions held between 1979 and 2016, as well as numerous group exhibitions.Plotkin’s work is represented in numerous corporate collections and the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum, New York; the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois; the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio; the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Wisconsin; the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York; la Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania; the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; and the Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts. She continues to live and work in New York.
