Artist Biography: Felix Jean was a well-known Haitian "primitive" or "folk" artist born in Anse-à-Veau. He began his studies at the Centre d'Art in 1950 and is recognized for his vibrant, densely populated market and street scenes. His work frequently features people with heavily outlined figures and lush tropical foliage, a style that became iconic enough to be featured on Barbancourt Rhum labels.
